From your intrepid reporter – day one at the Festival.
I’m exhibiting at the Fall Festival of the Arts DeLand this weekend. One day down. One to go.
This is not for the faint of heart. I awoke at 5am to the sound of a rain downpour. I pulled myself out of bed with a heavy heart. But, by 6 am when we were on the street setting up, it had slowed to a light drizzle. And then even that stopped. So… a cloudy day but otherwise OK.
This day included:
The sounds of clanging metal poles as artists set up in the early morning light.
Great conversations with interested art-appreciators.
Good sales!! I was pleased to sell a good handful of small matted collages and one large art quilt. (THANK THANK THANK - you patrons. It means the world.)
Some fun street art. This little vignette is painted on the sidewalk right near my booth set-up.
The good camaraderie of art quilt enthusiasts and especially SAQA members. I was happy to see so many people I know.
Many conversations with people who were not familiar with SAQA, encouraging them to learn about the organization and jump in!
Lots of people-watching
As you are reading, I am on the street once more, taking down the booth and packing up my car. (We close Sunday night. I posted this blog Saturday evening.) So, my hope is more good things happened Sunday.
If not, I’m still pleased with the weekend. I love talking to customers, showing and explaining my artwork. The hours in the studio are what’s required to show work. The interaction with customers is the end result.

I send sincere wishes to all for peaceful Thanksgiving days. And may you have lots of pie!
For all the artmakers: Happy creating
For all the art lovers: Happy appreciating
Thank you for reading. I always enjoy questions and comments.
