Setting Foot on the Middle Ground is inspired by contrasts: the rock-like patterns printed on muslin in the foreground set against the watercolor-like patterns in the sky, created primarily on transparent fabric. The stormy section of muslin top left brings the feel of solidity back into the top portion of the composition. It is an abstract landscape collage created with acrylic paint monotype-printed by hand on fabric.  When the materials are collaged together, the fibers of the fabrics bond to one another; these light-filled, watercolor-like images are as long-lasting as any acrylic painting. The colorful pieces are collaged with archival acrylic medium to a natural color muslin. Machine stitching adds texture.

Finishing: bound and backed with charcoal-colored eco felt. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation.
