The ways of sunlight
The ways of sunlight
48”H x 34”W
Down by the river. I love the effects of sunlight on bright green leaves and the patterns created. And I enjoy imagining how that sunlight is moving and creating patterns under the surface of water. I put those thing together in this art quilt.
In textile artwork, its’ a big decision to tackle a work as a whole cloth piece vs putting it together from a number of small pieces. In this work, I was interested in exploring methods of getting the images by hand printing and hand painting in the whole cloth method. (This one is almost whole cloth. The top section –leaves is one piece. The Bottom section – water- is a second piece.)
I created all of my printed and painted images with artist grade acrylics paints, working on a surface of unbleached cotton muslin. The entire surface is machine stitched for quilting.
The quilt includes a hanging rod and D-ring on the back in an attached pocket. It installs easily, hanging from a single nail or picture hook.
