Nor Could Our Hands Catch Them – 48” x 30”  

Imagine being at the beach beneath a noisy flock of birds or looking down at a dancing school of fish.  You can be close enough to touch but never able to catch. We realize they live in their own worlds, move in their own patterns. I was challenged to capture the experience of birds and fish in motion through printed, static abstract patterns. They are both real and imaginary.

Acrylics on fabric. Monotype printing by hand and direct painting with archival acrylic paints. Collage construction and machine stitching and quilting. Finishing: bound and fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, (which is invisible) also used over the surface for protection. 

Nor Could Our Hands Catch Them was juried for exhibit in “The Artist’s Question Answered in Fiber,” SAQA Regional show. It traveled throughout Florida and to Alabama and Texas April 2022 - July 2023.
