This piece was inspired by an intense blue monotype on rice paper that I created at the end of a printing session, using blue paint that remained on the plate with a piece of sateen fabric. Sometimes the most interesting results are the ones that are unplanned!

I collaged it onto 140# watercolor paper with other rice paper monotypes, added surface painting, and float mounted the work in a black frame with gold detail.
