This work will be exhibiting in the “Water Water Everywhere” exhibit at Biscayne National Park October 7, 2022 through January 3,2023. It is available for purchase, with shipment to the customer in January following the close of the show.

What interests me most in creating nature-based artwork is inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface. I rarely compose a picture plane exactly as one would see it through a camera. I enjoy showing what’s visible and hinting at what is invisible, depicting side-by-side elements that one would not actually see together. A patterned sky of pelicans in flight and the patterned world of fish below the surface provide such an invitation.

Monotype printing by hand and direct painting with archival acrylic paints. Relief printing, resist printing and stencils to build up the patterns in the fish and the water. Collage construction and machine stitching and quilting. The entire surface is richly textured with quilting stitching.

Finishing: bound and fabric-backed. The back of each panel has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. Hangs easily like three pictures side-by-side. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, (which is invisible) and also protects the surface.
