I am always intrigued with compositions built on an “above” and “below.” In this case, the bird in the panel above would be visible. The fish in the panel below is ones we would have to imagine. Each may be thinking of the other. But for different reasons.

The composition crosses the two panels, each approximately 12” x 12”. The work includes elements of hand printmaking,(stencil, monotype, relief and resist printing) and direct painting on fabric. After I create the individual sections, I stitch them together to create the composition and machine quilt the entire surface.

Each panel includes a hanging slat and D-ring on the back in an attached pocket. It installs easily, each half on its own nail or picture hook.
