Antiphonal Thicket  40”H x 44”W

I was inspired by photos of birds in trees, largely camouflaged by the leaves and branches. I could envision walking by a deep thicket and hearing birdsong without being able to see the birds.

The piece is worked in squares of hand printed teal and blue sheer fabrics and muslin, collaged and stitch construction, painted on constructed squares with machine stitched details. Acrylic paints and mediums. Finishing: bound fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. The surface is sealed with acrylic medium.
