Wingwalker
Wingwalker
This work will exhibit as part of “Threading the City” FAMA-sponsored textile art event. It will display in the Mexican Consulate from October 2022 - January 2023. It is available for purchase but will not be shipped till the conclusion of that event.
An imaginary scene is depicted in panels – like a storyboard – with the little girl precariously balanced on the wing of a plane. We see the story through shapes suggesting windows – a way to look inside. The rich colors of the sky and the sea are inviting and luscious. But the story does not seem to fit its surroundings. How did she get up there? Where is she headed? What is she leaving behind?
Patterns of machine stitching highlight sections of the work.
This work is created as a triptych: 3 separate panels, each mounted on birch plywood and framed from the back: your work will display approximately 2" away from the wall with a clean, wrapped edge. (Each panel is 31.5"H x 16"W, for 31.5" x 48" overall)
“Wingwalker” was awarded the Mixed Media Award….. 64 Arts - Buchanan Center for the Arts - Monmouth, IL - Juried all-media exhibit October 2019
