Water and Rust (38”H x 56”W) is a study of opposites. I have depicted the water in vibrant blues, patterned, moving. (I created these images with a mix of hand  printed surface design and original photos transferred to fabric.) But, in contact with metal and submitted to time, the water creates rust. The barn and the truck become the focal points for rust, enhanced by the gears – indicating movement and change – throughout the work.

It is my hope that Water and Rust provides both interesting imagery to explore and food for further thought. Everything changes.

Monotype printing by hand and direct painting with archival acrylic paints. Includes relief printing, resist printing, stencils and direct painting on fabric. Collage construction and machine stitching and quilting. The entire surface is richly textured with quilting stitching.

Finishing: fabric-bound edges and fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. Hangs easily on a standard picture hook. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, (which is invisible) and also protects the surface.
