“The Magic Socks”

Plain little town. Boring brown town. Curled up in their favorite chair, two girls long for adventure but cannot imagine it.  They dream of soaring but do not know how. Then they discover the magic socks.

The work is created with archival acrylic paints and mediums on fabric. Beginning with blank muslin and sheer polyester, I created the images on the fabric through a variety of surface design techniques: monotype printing, stencils, resist, hand painting and drawing. The composition is constructed as a collage with machine stitching for texture and sealed with acrylic medium.

Finishing: Fabric bound with a eco-felt fabric backing. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation.

This artwork was juried into “The Alchemy of Art” show at Florida CraftArt in St. Pete, Florida and exhibited May through June, 2023.
