As soon as I pulled these carrots from the ground I laughed out loud. Their gnarled, quirky shapes made me think of dancing creatures. They inspired me to think of those who have been through a lot, who may no longer be perfectly shaped, but who choose to celebrate. Let's dance!
This quilt traveled to eleven venues in 5 countries with 100,000 visitors from 2014-2016 as part of SAQA's traveling exhibit, "Redirecting the Ordinary."
Hand-printed monotype images on rice paper and fabric • painted fabric • acrylic paints • muslin, canvas, polyester felt • machine stitching • collage construction with acrylic medium.
This work is finished as an art quilt: fabric bound edge and fabric-backed. The back has a pocket and slat for hanging display.
