This quilt is a memory/dream composition. I began with the blues and greys in the windows and developed the patterns of printed fabrics to create a landscape for them. The landscape includes geometric shapes, trees and the suggestions of rocks and water.
The windows are transfers-to-fabric of original photos. I love their undefined nature. There are some reflections and nice architectural details of the window frames. But it’s unclear what’s within or behind the windows. Our imaginations can create stories about their meaning.
Transfers of original photos to muslin. Hand printed (monotypes and relief prints) with acrylic paint on sheer fabrics and muslin, collaged and stitch construction, with machine stitched details. Finishing: bound fabric-backed. The back has a hanging pocket and a rod, for traditional hanging tapestry presentation. All collaging is with archival matte acrylic medium, which is also used over the surface.
