A special corner in a house. The sound of a stair that always creaks a certain way. Kitchen scents. The feel of a piece of furniture. Simple memories can be powerful reminders of places that have been important to us. This still life was inspired by a visit to the home of a dear friend. I enjoyed the way these things were quietly arranged on a landing as I viewed them coming down the stairs.

Fabric collage with machine stitching on a birch panel with a 2” deep fabric-wrapped edge. Painted accents with acrylic paint. All elements collaged and sealed with archival acrylic mediums.
